Lock options

Create a lock

By creating a lock, you can configure its options to get the experience of your choice.

Display remaining time

The timer corresponding to the remaining time will be displayed when enabled. When disabled, the timer will be hidden. If the lock has a keyholder, only he will be able to see the remaining time. The keyholder can also enable or disable the timer display at any time.

The remaining time is displayed by default.

Display time information from history

When enabled, time changes will be displayed in the lock history. If the option is disabled, all time updates will be hidden in the history.

The time information is displayed by default.

Limit lock time

Many factors can change the duration of your lock: time modification by your keyholder, visitor votes, or pillory among others. You can limit the maximum time of a lock by activating this option: you will be sure to be released at the latest at the defined duration, regardless of other factors.

The limitation is disabled by default. If you are a beginner, we advise you to enable this option in order not to be locked longer than expected.

You can set the maximum lock time or date, or leave the default maximum initial lock duration.

info

This option is a safety measure for wearers. It cannot be changed by the keyholder.

Set a minimum lock time

You can set a minimum lock time to prevent your lock from being unlocked before a certain duration has elapsed. While "Limit lock time" sets a ceiling, this option sets a floor: the lock cannot be unlocked before the minimum time, regardless of other factors.

This option is disabled by default. When enabled, you choose a minimum lock duration. For shared locks using date mode, you can set a minimum date instead.

The keyholder can change the minimum lock time, but cannot set it above the maximum lock time defined by the Limit lock time option.

info

The minimum lock time and the Limit lock time option work independently. You can use one, both, or neither. Together, they define a window: you are guaranteed to stay locked for at least the minimum time, and guaranteed to be released by the maximum time.

Offer your session

Offer your session to a keyholder to allow them to control your lock.

Test lock

A test lock lets you try Chaster features without affecting your statistics or reputation. Test locks are visually marked with a blue "Test" chip so you can easily distinguish them from real locks.

Enabling at creation time

The "Test lock" checkbox is available during lock creation under the lock options. It is always available with no restrictions.

What test locks exclude

Marking a lock as a test lock excludes it from all statistics, including:

  • Wearer statistics: shortest, longest, and average lock durations, completed locks count, deserted locks count
  • Keyholder statistics: active locks, completed locks, unique wearers, total keyholding time

Deserting a test lock also has no impact on your reputation. Instead of the usual warning about negative consequences, you will see a softer informational message explaining what would happen on a real lock.

Setting an archived lock as a test lock

If you forgot to enable the test lock option during lock creation, you can still mark the lock as a test lock after it has been archived.

From your list of archived locks, open the three-dot menu on the lock and select Set as test lock.

A confirmation modal will ask you to confirm your choice, since this action is irreversible.

Conditions

The following conditions must be met to set an archived lock as a test lock:

  • The lock must be unlocked (archived). You cannot mark an active lock as a test lock.
  • Deserted keyholder locks cannot be marked as test locks. If the lock had a keyholder and was deserted, the option will be greyed out.
  • Only the wearer can set a lock as a test lock. Keyholders cannot do this.
  • The action is irreversible: once a lock is marked as a test lock, it cannot be changed back to a real lock.
info

Test locks are different from the "Not in stats" indicator, which appears when a lock was created before a statistics reset. Resetting your statistics excludes all older locks from your stats, while test locks are individually excluded regardless of when they were created.
